ChargeNet is an early-stage startup from the Netherlands. They wanted to create a platform for logistic companies to collaborate on decarbonisation of road logistics by sharing their charging infrastructure with each other. Our goal was to design and deliver a robust marketplace and companion mobile app in just three months which would enabling companies to list unused chargers and fleet drivers to locate and use them, with full interoperability through OCPP and OCPI.
Enable standardized communication with chargers and CPO backends via OCPP and OCPI
Build a secure web platform serving different organizations and user types with tailored features
Deliver a mobile app for drivers to easily find stations and charge their trucks
Test the solution end-to-end with real chargers, vehicles, and CPOs
To bring this mission to life, we delivered three key components:
1. Mobile app
An app where drivers can find chargers and charge their trucks.
2. Web platform
A portal where companies can list, manage and shair chargers.
3. Interoperability modules
Custom OCPI modules and OCPP gateway enabling standardized communications.
"We love working with Apex, there is a good click from the start with everybody in the team. Apex has shown great flexibilitity when new requests or scope-changes inevitably creeped up and executed professionally. Our next product iteration will be with them again."
Sebastiaan de Vries CEO
The platform was successfully tested with a few operators and chargers, proving its ability to connect multiple organizations and locations through a single interface. The modular OCPI/OCPP integration demonstrated how quickly new CPOs or chargers can be added, laying the foundation for scale.
Although ChargeNet is still in the early stages of bringing the product to market, they now have a working MMP: a secure, extensible system that showcases the business model to partners and investors and provides a clear pathway toward adoption
